Three Minutes. Two Wires. One Connection.

Step 1 — Mount HouseWaves-Legacy to the back of your passive speaker with screws or adhesive tabs

1. Attach (or not)

Attach the open back plate to the rear of your speaker using adhesive tabs or small screws.

2. Connect

Connect the two wires to your speaker's existing wire terminals and slide the cover into place.

Step 3 — Music Assistant automatically discovers the HouseWaves-Legacy player and begins streaming

3. Power Up

Plug in the power adapter, add your Wi-Fi information and watch it appear in Music Assistant.

Pair ’em –or– Split ’em

HouseWaves-Legacy is a single speaker amplifier. You decide where to place each connected speaker and what audio to send to it.

You can match two speakers and assign them left and right for true stereo in a single room. OR place individual speakers in any room, seamlessly synchronizing for multi-room audio. OR stream entirely different audio tracks, simultaneously in different parts of your home.

Change your mind anytime — move them around, reassign groups and channels — the ultimate in flexibility.

That flexibility only works if the timing is right. ESPHome with SendSpin maintains the audio synchronization between every device on your network — tight enough for a stereo pair or steady enough to walk from room to room without an audio gap or overlap.

Questions About Legacy?

Do I need one Legacy per speaker?

Yes. Legacy is a per-speaker amplifier — one speaker, one Legacy. Each Legacy has a dedicated amplifier with a Wi-Fi connection that eliminates the wires needed by traditional streaming amplifiers. Place your speakers anywhere you have an electrical outlet and Wi-Fi reception.

What speakers work with Legacy?

Passive cabinet, in-wall and in-ceiling speakers between 4Ω and 8Ω with standard wire connections. Match the model to your speaker's power rating: Legacy 30 for larger speakers rated 40–100W continuous, Legacy 15 for small bookshelf and ceiling speakers rated 15–50W continuous. Neither model is intended for large floor-standing speakers or towers — they may work, but not very well.

Can I change the firmware?

Yes. It's your speaker and your choice. HouseWaves ships with ESPHome firmware and includes OTA updating. But you are welcome to use any ESP32-compatible firmware you choose. And unlike other brands, we will never brick your speaker.
